LOCATIONRio de Janeiro is located on the Atlantic coast of the southeastern region of Brazil. It has a privileged geographical position, with wide beaches and breathtaking mountains make the city a spectacular setting. Known as the "marvelous city" Rio de Janeiro is a perfect combination of pleasant climate, beautiful views, loving people, music and happiness.

HISTORYThe 1st of January 1502, Portuguese navigators sighted the Bay of Guanabara. Believing it was the mouth of a large river, called Rio de Janeiro (River of January).

For over 30 years, the Parade of Samba Schools was made spontaneously. Today, it is synonymous with Rio and Carnival takes place officially in February, when schools and carnival devote their energy to the show created and produced throughout the year. Outside the official calendar, the Parade of Samba Schools begins in November. During that month, you can see the "technical tests" carried out in the Sambadrome.

PLACES: CHRIST REDEEMER

Located 709 meters above sea level, on top of Corcovado Mountain, has an overall height of 38 meters away.The Christ the Redeemer was named one of the winners in the list of the Seven Wonders of the world.The idea of a monumental Christ, with open arms, emerged in 1921 as part of commemoration of the centenary of Brazilian independence.

BOTANICAL GARDEN OF RIO

Surprised by its size: 137 hectares, and its heritage.recognized worldwide for their quality, a living museum with around 11,000 plant species from around the world. It has several interesting areas to explore, like an orchid, cactario, bromelario, carnivorous plants, an area of forest or jungle Atlantic Forest and infrastructure with lakes, water passages with great scenic gardens, etc..

MARACANA STADIUMBuilt to be the world's largest stadium, got it for a while. It hosted the 1950 World Cup. Living a soccer match at Maracana is a chance to meet some of the world's most exciting hobbies. Tickets are affordable. Students have discounts.

THE SUGAR LOAF(El Pão de Açúcar)The Sugar Loaf is a very attractive, because it is very near the

center of the cove of Botafogo and the large Guanabara Bay, right in the spot where the Atlantic Ocean opens. So the rise puts you in a strategic location from where the view reaches to the most interesting points of the city.

COPACABANA BEACHCopacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, internationally famous, is a place of tourist and hostel concentration.Copacabana is also a popular neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro and one of those with the highest population density in the world.
