HISTORYThe 1st of January 1502, Portuguese navigators sighted the Bay of Guanabara. Believing it was the mouth of a large river, called Rio de Janeiro (River of January).

For over 30 years, the Parade of Samba Schools was made spontaneously. Today, it is synonymous with Rio and Carnival takes place officially in February, when schools and carnival devote their energy to the show created and produced throughout the year. MARACANA STADIUMBuilt to be the world's largest stadium, got it for a while. It hosted the 1950 World Cup. Living a soccer match at Maracana is a chance to meet some of the world's most exciting hobbies. Tickets are affordable. Students have discounts.
