5 years ago Alekos attended a RG event and shared his vision about a 3 day beach music festival in Greece that would become a globally renowned event similar to what Ultra is in the US or what Sonar and Benicassim are in Spain.

Last month the festival took place for third year in a row in the island of Elafonisos and it was a great success! More than 5,000 people attended the event, doubling last year’s attendees. David Gueatta who played at the event for the first time this year, flew directly from Ibiza for his DJ set and after the event he said that there couldn’t be a better place to party than this one.

Elafonisos a traditional camping destination in Greece, has since become a popular tourism destination, with many 5 stars hotel popping up around the area helping the whole of Laconia area GRexit the crisis. This probably explains the 35% increase in tourism and the presence of Jennifer Aniston and Tom Hanks at the event.

As for Alekos and his team, they are already thinking

ahead to next year. His presentation at TEDxAthens along with the positive publicity from international media such as the Rolling Stone Magazine have attracted the attention of sponsors, DJs and audiences which means that next year they might have to look for a bigger venue.

But how did all this happen? “I attended the RG Event, presented the idea, posted it on the Platform and it got viral”.

It was easy to connect with people with different backgrounds and skills and create a team through the platform.

Future plans?The team is growing and there are thoughts of introducing another festival that will move to a different

location in Greece each year in order to support different local economies.

Other than that, “RG introduced us to an investor who is interested to bring the festival to Turkey” says Alekos. “But before that I have to be in London from some important meetings with LiveNation, SONY and the O2.”
