Amarnath Yatra
Amarnath cave is a hindu shrine situated in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The cave is located at an
altitude of 3,800 m about 140 km from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir and armed
through Pahalgam town. The shrine board forms an important part of Hinduism, and is
considered to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. The cave is blanketed by snowy
mountains. The cave itself is covered with snow most of the year except for a short period of

and 350,000 in 2013. Pilgrims visit the holy site during the 45-day season around the festival of
Shravani Mela in July–August, coexist with the Hindu holy month of Shraavana.The beginning
of the annual pilgrimage, called Amarnath Yatra is marked by 'pratham pujan' to importune the
invocation of Shri Amarnathji.
Chardham Yatra
Char Dham is a religious pilgrimage for Hindus to the four Hindu religious sites in Uttarakhand
state of India. These are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Located in the lap of
majestic Himalayas, these four sites are the epicurious of religious activity in North India.
Traditionally, the Chardham yatra is undertaken from the west to the east. Thus, the yatra starts
from Yamunotri, then heading to Gangotri and finally to Kedarnath and Badrinath. Amongst the
four Char Dhams, Yamunotri and Gangotri are dedicated to esteemed goddesses Yamuna and
Ganga respectively. On the other hand, Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva while Badrinath is
dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Moreover, people also visit Hemkund Sahib in the state, which is one
of the highest and famous located religious pilgrimage sites in the country. Thus, pilgrims visit
all these places in hope of washing away their sins and to attain salvation, by the blessings of the
God.
Sri Kedarnath Dham
Kedarnath is a Hindu holy town located in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand; about 3584m above
sea level near the head of river Mandakini, and is aside by breathtaking snow-capped peaks.
Kedarnath hosts one of the holiest Hindu temples, the Kedarnath Temple, and is a prominent
destination for Hindu pilgrims from all over the world, being one of the four major sites in
India's Char Dham pilgrimage, because of extreme weather conditions; the temple is open only
between the end of April to June (the autumn full moon).
Sri Badrinath Dham
Badrinath is located in Chamoli district in state of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the most
important of the four sites in India's Char Dham pilgrimage. Badrinath is a magical blend of god
& goddess and natural beauty. The most popular pilgrim spot of Hindus offer the excitement of

in the Garhwal Himalayas and located -approximately 30 kilometers (19 mi) North of Uttarkashi.
Sri Gangotri Dham
Gangotri, the origin of the River Ganges and seat at the lap of goddess Ganga, situated in
Uttarkashi. The original temple was constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the
early years of 18th century and later rebuilt by the Maharaja of Jaipur. The river is called
Bhagirathi at the source and acquires the name Ganga (the Ganges) from Devprayag onwards
where it meets the Alaknanda. The origin of the holy river is at Gaumukh, set in the Gangotri
Glacier, and is a 19 km trek from Gangotri.
