The Amazon region of Colombia, or just Amazon, comprising 42% of the country and is the least populated country. At the same time, is part of the vast South American region of the Amazon Forest, the largest forest area in the world that is shared by Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Guyana, Suriname, and Bolivia. Consequently, the Amazon region of Colombia is the forest with an area of 483,119 square km.

The region is surrounded by the Andes Mountains to the west and stretches eastward to the borders with Brazil and Venezuela, from north to south, stretching from the river Guaviare and Putumayo and Vichada to the Amazon.

the Amazon region has 44 indigenous peoples. Administratively it is an area of 403,348 square kilometers which corresponds to the departments of Amazonas, Caquetá, Guainía, Vaupes and Putumayo. The Colombian Amazon accounts for 8% of the region of the Amazon International.
