The Pero-Palo

Carnival Monday

•On Monday villagers get dressed more or less like “peasant people”.

•Early in the morning on Tuesday “the Diana” is performed in the main square.

Carnival Tuesday

•In the morning people make the Pero Palo ride on a donkey towards his simulated judgment.

•That same afternoon participants simulate “a shooting” to kill the Pero Palo.

•At night the Peropalo is finally “killed” with shotguns.

Ash Wednesday

•The final part of the festival is the “buried of the sardine”, when the sardine is walked around the town to be finally burned in the Main Square.

•After this, sardines are cooked in the square to be tasted by all the participants.
