Location

Northeastern IRAN

In the Razavi Khorasan province

In 115 Km west of Mashhad

It is limited northward by Binolcod mountains and Qoochan, westward by Esfarayen and Sabzevar, Eastward by Mashhad, and southward by Torbat-e Haydariyyeh and Kashmar.

Neyshabur is linked by road and railway with Tehran and Mashhad.

History

No city in the world has such this burdensome history.

Neyshabur had been destroyed and rebuilt more times than any other city in history.

The city founded by Eiraj the Fereydon ´son ( 3rd century. B.C.)

This city faced a lot of earthquake in 3rd century CE, 1160,1267 and

1906 and rebuilt again.

Captured & suffered massacred by invading Arab ( 650 A.D.)

The Oghuz Turks massacred & looted & pillaged the city ( in 1153)

Genghis khan ‘s daughter ordered the death of all in the city.

1.747 million beheaded,and the skulls of men , women and children

were pilled in pyramids by the mongols ( in 1220).They even killed all cats & dogs in city.

Ahmad shah durrani the Afghani rebel 2 years after nader shah assassination,destroyed whole the city ( in 1749)

Golden Age

Neyshabur was one of major cities in greater Khorasan beside Balkh, Merv, Bukhara, Samarqand.

In 9th century was the capital of the Tahirid the 1st Iranian dynasty when the glazed ceramics of Neyshabur formed an important item of trade to the west.

Amre Laith Saffari made the city as his capital (~892 AD)

The golden age of Neyshabur was the 11th, 12th & 13th centuries.

Neyshabur rivaled Baghdad & Cairo became bigger than both of them.& made as biggest & most flourished city in Islamic empire.The city had 50 main streets, 44 quarters with royal Mosque & libraries The city called " Om ol-Belad " (=Mother of Cities)

Nizam ol-Mulk the celebrated Iranian scholar and vizier of the Seljuq Empire, built Nizamiyyah university & organized 13 libraries with 200,000 books (in 1037)The city called "Dar ol-Elm" (=House of Science)

City never could rose again.

Now it's very small city that you can just find some ruins that shown glorious past

Neyshabur includes 2 cities, 5 districts, 15 villages and 632 hamlets.

Culture Pride of the city to be the home of the great poets, painters,

philosophers, mathematicians and astronomers like Omar Khayyam, Kamal-ol-Molk, Farid al-Din Attar ,Fereydoon Joneidi that now a days attract lots of tourists to visit and see how glorious its culture is.

Neyshabour has one of the biggest turquoise mines in the world which improved the economy of the city a lot.

Neyshabour had just one road to Mashhad which was called

Death Road because of many accidents happened there in the past,

but now,to attract more tourist thay made a shorter and safer way

between Mashhad and Neyshabour

Conclusion

In my idea this city would be sustainable if the points below be done

1. They can attract more tourists by construct modern and beautiful buildings

Such as : planetarium ( Aflak na ma)

2. constructing more hospitals and using expert doctors

3. new city designing and repairing old parts and buildings

4. planting more trees to prevent increasing desert lands ( to the city)

5. using updated agriculture science
