MY HISTORYBy Weldon Jolivette

My Hometown•Oceanside, CA•Graduated from Oceanside High School in 2002.•Oceanside is not just a military town, but a fusion of cultures heavily influenced by our Mexican friends and neighbors.•There are some bars and places to play pool, but a real local will enjoy the beach or take a ride down the 101 starting in Oceanside heading south to San Diego.•When I was young my greatest memory of home is having bond fires with family and friends where we shared stories, ate great food, and made smoores!

My Travels

In my dreams and heart I travel to many places experiencing many different cultures. However my travels are limited to the major cities of California, Texas where I have family and seen a cowboy game at the new Texas stadium, Vegas (it really is another country!), Orlando/Hawaii for a business trip with Best Buy, and parts of Mexico. I recently went to Cabo in the summer of 2009. What a great time!

My dream place to travel has been Egypt and Greece, because the hold the ruins to ancient cultures I grew up admiring.

My Family & Its History

Mi familia es muy grande. My mother maiden name is Dominguez and she is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico. My father is from Lafayette, Louisiana and moved out here due to military where he meet my mom. Like a said my family is very large and I have several nieces and nephews, and way too many cousins. I have two grandmas still alive, Amelia who speaks broken English and Beverly who lives still in Louisiana. We love watching movies, playing sports, eating and drinking beers (or my mom shots of tequila, stay away from here at the party) while sharing one of our childhood memories. We don’t always see eye to eye, but there is always love!

My Education

I graduated from Oceanside H.S in 2002 and attended Mira Costa, but failed miserably. From there I worked at Best Buy and Circuit City , and in a way continued my education in retail, leadership, and people management.

In 2007 I started attending Palomar and I am really excited to be transferring this fall with two AA degrees! My major is political science and I plan on going to law school after. I really love helping people, and so that combined with a love for history and past precedents led me to want to be a lawyer.

My Job

I currently am a student worker at the Vista Court house. I heard about the job from my older sister that works at the traffic court, and it really ties in perfectly with what I am majoring in, and my desire to be a practicing attorney soon.

The best part of my job is changing people views about those who work in public service such at the courthouse or DMV. However, the worst part not be able to help many who are in need of legal advice or are just flat out rude.

My favorite Things

I love sports, music, and good food!

I mean that pretty much sums it up. Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bulls, and the San Diego Padres are my teams. Its hard being a Padres fan but I have to support one of the local teams. My music taste range from Jack Johnson to NAS, Bob Marley to Jodeci, and I love going to concerts the last one two where Coldplay and Damian Marley.I enjoy playing basketball, golf, and want to try to surf again, I had a bad experience (almost drowned). Most favorite thing to do is something new with good company.
