On arrival at Yangon International Airport, you are welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After refreshment, you embark on a city tour including:(1) China Town noted for its fruit market, delicious street foods and old world atmosphere.(2) Downtown Yangon’s Sule Pagoda, City Hall, Independence monument and old colonial buildings. (3) A visit to the magnificent and world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, known for its religious significance and artistic beauty.(4 )A welcome dinner at the Karaweik Palace Barge on the Royal Lake with great views of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Dinner is Burmese food and experience an amazing cultural show.

Day 2 MANDALAY – MINGUN – MANDALAY HILL

We depart Yangon for Mandalay (by air) and we will spend the day in Mandalay, the last royal capital and environs . Although quite a young city and a hub of commerce it is the main centre for monastic learning for over a century now. Therefore the city and environs is a place of stupas, monks and monasteries. On this day’s trip : (1) We go to Mandalay pier, embarking on a private boat upstream to visit Mingun, famed for its huge and incomplete Pahtodawgyi Pagoda and MingunBell; a 90 ton ringing bell and largest of its kind in the world.(2) After lunch, in the afternoon, we visit Mandalay Palace and the nearby, Shwe Nandaw Monastery - noted for its exquisite wood carvings and Kuthodaw Pagoda - known as the world biggest book.(3) We finish the day’s tour by visiting Mandalay Hill to experience a tropical sun-set with panoramic views of the city and the Ayeyarwaddy River.

On today’s tour :(1) We drive 1:30 hrs to PyinOolwin 1,100 metres in elevation located 69 km on the Shan Hills north-east of Mandalay. The former British colonial-era town enjoys cool and pleasant weather the whole year round. (2) Sightseeing includes; Maha Ant Htoo KanThar Buddha Image, carved out of a single block of white marble.(3) the Botanical Garden ,14 hectare gardens established in 1905 and modelled on the gardens at Kew, England.(4)The Chinese Temple, Pwe-Kauk Waterfall and Peik-chin-hmyaung Cave.(5) Evening at leisure. You can take a horse-drawn carriage to explore the small town. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel in PyinOoLwin.

This morning, after breakfast in hotel, we drive down to Mandalay.Upon arrival to Mandalay ,we proceed directly for sightseeing to Inn-Wa(Ava):this old capital of Myanmar was found in 1364 A.D by King Thado Minpya. It lies at the junction of the Ayarwaddy with the Myitnge (Dohtawadi) River, and the town was built on an artificial island surrounded by a channel, the Myittha Stream, which was dug from the Myitnge River which flows into the Ayarwaddy. The city stands in the North-East corner of the triangular island.

(1) At Innwa we take a pony cart and explore this old capital. Sightseeing includes; the old wall, the site of Bagyidaw’s palace (1819-37) is now marked by a solitary masonry Watch Tower which is about 90 feet high.(2) Okkyaung (or) Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery was built by Nanmadaw Mae Nu, chief Queen of Bagyidaw in 1818.This masonry monastery is a fine specimen of its type of Myanmar architecture. In the evening we drive to the ancient capital of Amarapura, (the city of Immortals ) and visit :(3) the huge Bagaya Monastery with a famous collection of Buddha images(4) Traditional style weaving cottage industry sites (5) The two-century old U-Bein teak bridge on the Taungthaman Lake. Enjoy the sun-set there and back to Mandalay. (6) On the way back to hotel , we drop into Maha Muni, a spectacularly gold-encrusted Buddha image said to be cast in the life-time of Buddha himself and the most sacred buddhist site in upper Myanmar.   Dinner and overnight in Mandalay.

DAY 5   MANDALAY - SAGAING - MONYWA

For today we have a day trip to Sagaing and Monywa :(1) a drive to the Sagaing Hills across the Ayeyarwaddy River Bridge and see the spectacular scenic view on approach to these pagoda-dotted hills. We visit UminThonze pagoda and Soon Oo Ponnyashin pagoda from where fantastic views of the pagoda –studded Sagaing Hills and the Ayeyawaddy River are seen.(2) We proceed to Monywa: about 136 km to the west of Mandalay, the commercial centre of Chindwin valley. Places of interests are; Thanbodde Pagoda adorned with over 500,000 Buddha images, Bodhi-Tataung (One thousand Bo trees),Ledi Monastery;a teaching monastery where Buddhist scriptures are inscribed on 806 stone slabs, ,the huge standing Buddha image Laykyun Setkyar built by Bodhi Tahtaung Sayadaw (a venerable monk). It is the second tallest Buddha Image in the world at 116 meters. The image has become one of the main tourist attractions in upper  Myanmar. Dinner and overnight in Monywa.

DAY 6 MONYWA – PO WIN HILL – MANDALAY

For today’s tour :(1) In the morning, we visit Kyauk-ka village; known for its own distinctive kind of lacquerware even more ancient and rustic than that of Bagan.(2) We cross the Chindwin River and by jeep continue on to visit Po Win Hill; an extraordinary complex containing 947 sandstone caves dug out of the hills said to be the richest collection of mural paintings and buddha statues in South-East Asia.(3) We explore the nearby Shwe Ba Hill; where monasteries and temples are carved out of narrow cliffs.(4) We return to Mandalay and on the way,have lunch at Sagaing and stop at Ywar-Htaung Silversmith village to observe silversmith workshops. Upon arrival in Mandalay, evening at leisure.Dinner and overnight in Mandalay.

DAY 7 MANDALAY – HEHO (by air) – PINDAYA - KALAW

We leave Mandalay by air for Heho the gateway to the highland Inle Lake, the second largest lake in Myanmar, located 900m above sea level and home to the unique leg- rowing Intha people, The Pindaya Caves and the Kalaw Trekking region.(1) On arrival in Heho we drive to Pindaya; a small quiet town in Shan Plateau, famous for its fantastic caves full of centuries- old Buddha Images .(2) We continue sightseeing of traditional parasol & Shan traditional paper making industry in this locales. Lunch at a local restaurant in Pindaya.(3) We then proceed to Kalaw :a beautiful colonial hill station a peaceful summer resort with fragrant pine woods. The road from Kalaw to Pindaya (38 km) passes through a countryside of tranquil scenic beauty.(4) We explore the Kalaw hill station market and town where hill tribes’ people in their colorful costumes can be seen. Dinner and overnight in Kalaw.

DAY 8 KALAW TREKKING – INLE LAKE

In the early morning, your trekking guide will come for you at your hotel to start:(1) The trekking trip to Palaung hill tribes ,about 3 ½ Hrs hiking through valleys and mountains to Pinna Bin Village. Enjoy your trekking and explore orange,tea and cheroot-wrapper leaf plantations along the way. Lunch at Palaung village. Observe the ways of

DAY 9 INLE LAKE BOAT EXCURSION

Today is the Lake excursion day including :(1) A boat excursion on InleLake, a delight to all with a camera ,its calm waters dotted with floating vegetation on floating Islands and small fishing boats,to which scenic high hills provide the perfect back-drop. See the “Intha” (Lake- dwelling people) also known as the unique “Leg-Rowers” who use one leg to stand on the boat while the other leg is wrapped around an oar and rows.(2) You will continue on to Nga Phe Chaung; also known as the Jumping Cats Monastery , one of the oldest monasteries on the lake with ancient Buddha Statues dated over 200 years and amazing cats trained by the Buddhist monks.(3) Observe floating Gardens, with vegetables and flowers growing on them, and the lake way of life at ‘Kay La Village’.(4) Visit PhaungDawOoPagoda, the holiest religious site in Southern Shan State which has five small Buddha Statues so heavily gilded with gold that the original buddha images are unrecognizable.(5) Observing the Lake Inle cottage industry workshops such as silk & lotus fabric weaving with wooden handlooms at “Inn-Paw- Kone”Village, traditional ‘mild-cigar –making’ (cheroot) factory at “Se’ Kaung Village” and tradional silver and gold smiths,paper umbrella –making at ‘Ywa-ma’ Village.You will also see Padaung hill tribe ladies(Long-neck ladies) in that village.   Dinner at the restaurant in your Hotel and overnight on Inle Lake.

DAY 10 INLE – HEHO – BAGAN (by air)

You are transferred to Heho Airport for an early morning flight to Bagan and on arrival transferred to Hotel.Afterwards you will begin a tour of Bagan”s highlights; famous temples,such as : (1) Ananda Temple,1090AD,a master piece of early Bagan period temple-architecture with four huge standing Buddha images. (2) That-Byin-Nyu; a mid-12th century temple , 66 meters in height, towering above all other monuments and presenting visitors with a magnificent panorama of Bagan plain.(3) Shwe-Gu-Gyi; a temple built in 1131 AD, standing on a high brick plinth, with arch-pediments and decorated with fine stucco carvings(4) Gaw-Daw-Palin Temple built in the 12th century with a fine view over the ruins of the Bagan plains.(5) a visit to a Lacquer ware workshop, to observe the process of making a lacquer ware and its showroom. Lunch at a    local Restaurant.(6)  After lunch continue the day’s tour to Hti-lo-min-lo;1211 AD, one of the largest temples ,noted for its fine plaster carvings on the arch pediments, friezes.(7) Shwe-Zi-Gon; completed in 1084, noted for its glazed plaques depicting scenes from the Jatakas.(8) Bu Phaya; standing at the edge of the AyeyawadyRiver, it is a ancient landmark for travellers along the river. It has a bulbous shape resembling that of the gourd fruit and is a favourite spot for visitors to watch the sun-set over the Ayeyawaddy River.  Dinner at Green Elephant Restaurant and overnight in Bagan.

Today’s tour includes :(1) A morning visit to the interesting local Nyaung Oo Market where you can buy some cotton clothing or local woven fabrics and souvenirs. (2) a visit to Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype of later Myanmar stupas and Kyansittha Umin cave.(3) Gu-Pyauk-Kyi (Wetkyi-Inn) ; a 13th century temple with a spire resembling that of the Maha-Bodhi Temple at Buddha Gaya in India, with notable for its wall-paintings; depicting scenes from the Jataka. (4) the Bagan Archaeological Zone Museum and lunch at a local restaurant.(5) In the afternoon, we proceed on to Dhamayan Gyi Temple; the most massive temple of all the temples in Bagan, Manuha Temple built in Mon style from 1059 and the Nanpaya Temple, said to have once been the residence of King Manuha.(6) Experience a fantastic sun-set from Shwe San Daw Temple.  Dinner with Culture Show. Overnight at the Hotel in Bagan.

(1) We leave the Bagan temples for a while and take a short drive to Mt. Popa. We join local pilgrims on a winding staircase ascent of the Mt Popa and see the Nat (spirit)shrines that line the walkway along with the monkeys that live on the mountain. (2) On the way back to Bagan, we will experience the traditional toddy palm sugar, and peanut oil production.(3) We then return to Bagan for a short boat ride along the Irrawaddy River at sunset.

DAY 13   BAGAN – YANGON (by air)

We leave Bagan for Yangon on an early morning flight and spend a full day exploring Yangon including : (1) Botahtaung Pagoda, a famous landmark pagoda beside Yangon River, with a walk-in internal relic chamber.(2) Chauk-htat-kyi Phaya; a huge life-like reclining Buddha statue surrounded by Buddhist monasteries.(3) Bogyoke Aung San Market (named after the father of Aung San Suu Kyi and formerly known as the Scott Market )to purchase souvenirs and handicrafts if you wish. Evening, Farewell Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Yangon.
