ESTAMBUL

Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and the third most populous in Europe. Istanbul is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

• Located on the highest point of Istanbul, Hagia Sophia defines the view of the city. Its four minarets and dome of over 30 meters in diameter are the most characteristic image of the Turkish metropolis.

• The interior of Hagia Sophia is overwhelming: the size of the main room (70 by 74 meters), diffuse lighting, decorative medallions enormous monolithic columns and leave you with your mouth open.

Blue Mosque

Blue Mosque is the largest mosque in Istanbul. His name is Sultanahmet Camii in Turkish, Sultan Ahmed Mosque, as was built by Sultan Ahmed I between 1609 and 1616. It was inaugurated in 1617 during the reign of

Mustafa I. The central dome is 23 meters in diameter and 43 meters high.

Palacio Topkapi

In its 700,000 square meters, the Topkapi Palace has four multiple courtyards and buildings inside:

weapons room, kitchen, royal stables, treasure and many more.

In the same enclosure (inside of its walls) is the Museum arqueologicoy other interesting

buildings.

Yerebatan Cistern

• The Yerebatan Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnici, its name in Turkish) has dimensions of 140 by 70 meters and an estimated could store about 100,000 m3 of water.

• The Basilica Cistern has 336 columns 9 meters high. The styles are varied columns because they were reused from old structures and monuments.

Galata Tower

• The Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi) is one of the oldest towers in the world. From its top you get one of the best views of Istanbul.

• The Galata Tower was first built of wood in 528 to serve as a beacon. In 1348 it was rebuilt by the Genoese Tower with the name of Christ.

Church of St. Saviour in Chora

• It was built between 1316 and 1321 according to plans by Teodoro Metoquines.

• The most spectacular of the church are frescoes and Byzantine mosaics, as they are considered the best preserved in the world.

• Curiously, Chora means "out of town", is that the church was built on the outside of the walls of ancient Byzantium.

Gülhane Park

• Gülhane Park is the oldest park in Istanbul. It lies at the foot of the Topkapi Palace, which was part during its heyday.

• Whether traveling with children like you just want to relax for a while, the park's central location in the heart of the historical center, makes a walk through the trees is never over.

Galata Bridge

• The Galata Bridge is a bascule bridge 490 meters long and is located on the estuary known as the Golden Horn, connecting the old Istanbul with the most modern.

• The Galata Bridge not only connects different areas of the city, but also a symbolic bridge capable of uniting different cultures.
