IRCTC PNR status

Indian railways are managed by the ministry of railway of the Government of India. IRCTC is the new

service started by Indian railway board. Before that I will tell you about some facts of Indian railway.

Indian railway covered about 63,140 kilometres of total area all over India and about 8702

passengers train are running at present. Indian railway carries about 14 million passengers a day.

Irctc is the service provided by Indian Railways ministry. IRCTC provide various facilities to the

passengers like catering, online ticketing and tourism packages.

Catering – now IRCTC is in charge of catering services in long route trains and railway stations. IRCTC

started pantry cars in Indian trains which serve 3 time meals, snacks, coffee, tea, and soft drinks. The

pantry car in trains gives you the Room service facilities in which wait staff brings order to your seat

or in case you can also go to direct to the pantry car and placed the order. For every order you have

to pay for what you buy. Some long Journey luxury trains provide food, snacks, meals, and other

drinks free of cost as the catering charges were already included in Ticket cost. The menu is basically

vegetarian and eggs omlets are normally served. On demand non-vegetarian food is also served to

the passengers that are easily available of railway station and express trains. The charges of the

meals are quit high as compare to the restaurants and hotels but the passengers will get the fine

variety of food.

Online Ticketing – Another services offered by IRCTC is online ticketing which is highly in demand

now a days. You can book you seat through online easily. There two options when you book Indian

railway online ticket. You can make I-ticket railway booking and get the ticket yourself through the

printer or your home computer and the second one is you have it delivered to an address in India. In

Home delivery option your city must have the courier service facilities only then you can have it at

your home. The list of cities is mentioned on the Official website of IRCTC where the courier service

is available. You have to provide local and correct address to get the delivery of ticket at your home.

For online booking of ticket you must be login on the website and one have to pay extra charge of

1.8% levied on the total cost of the tickets. Irctc provide service to check the availability and status of

your train and seats in the train. Every ticket holder will get PNR no attached on the ticket and with

that number you can check your reserve seat status online. Make sure you check the irctc pnr status

of your ticket just before boarding an Indian train, to see if you have an RAC or WL ticket.

Tourism – IRCTC also organize tourism packages for domestic and foreign tourists. These packages

cover important tourist destinations and involve special luxury trains. Apart from this IRCTC also

offers adventure tourism package like water sports, mountains travel and adventure trip to wildlife

forest and wildlife treks.
