Indonesia• Indonesia is a sovereign state in a Southeast Asia. • Indonesia is an archipelago comprising thousands of islands.

The population estimated of over 252 million people, Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country. Indonesia's republican form of government comprises an elected legislature and president.• Indonesia lies between latitudes 11°S and 6°N, and

longitudes 95°E and 141°E. It consists of 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited.• It encompasses 34 provinces, of which five have Special

Administrative status. The nation's capital city is Jakarta.

Pancasila• Pancasila (pronounced [pantʃaˈsila]) is the official philosophical foundation of

the Indonesian state. Pancasila consists of two Old Javanese words (originally from Sanskrit), "pañca" meaning five, and "sīla" meaning principles. It comprises five principles held to be inseparable and interrelated:

1. Belief in the one and only God ( Ketuhanan yang maha esa) 2. Just and civilized humanity ( Kemanusiaan yang adil dan beradab)3. The unity of Indonesia (Persatuan Indonesia)4. Democracy guided by the inner wisdom in the unanimity arising out of

deliberations amongst (Kerakyatan Yang Dipimpin oleh Hikmat kebijaksanaan, Dalam Permusyawaratan dan Perwakilan

5. Social justice for all of the people of Indonesia (Keadilan Sosial bagi seluruh Rakyat Indonesia)

Batik

• Batik (Javanese pronunciation: [ˈbateʔ]; Indonesian: [ˈbatɪk]) is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. Batik is made either • 1. by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called

a canting, • 2. by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. The applied

wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to color selectively 3. by soaking the cloth in one color, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired.

Wayang Kulit/ Shadow puppet

• Wayang, the Javanese, Sundanese, and Balinese shadow puppet theatre shows display several mythological legends such as Ramayana and Mahabharata, and many more. Wayang is Javanese traditional dance drama based on wayang stories. Various Balinese dance drama also can be included within traditional form of Indonesian drama. Another form of local drama is Javanese Ludruk and Ketoprak, Sundanese Sandiwara, and Betawi Lenong. All of these drama incorporated humor and jest, often involving audiences in their performance.• Randai is a folk theatre tradition of the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra,

usually performed for traditional ceremonies and festivals. It incorporates music, singing, dance, drama and the silatmartial art, with performances often based on semi-historical Minangkabau legends and love story.
