Where Saudi Arabia is located

Saudi Arabia is a country located in a continent called (Asia), and if we want to be more specific we would say it is located in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is Bordered by Jordan on the north-west, Iraq on the North, and Northeast. Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates are to the East. Oman on the Southeast, and Yemen on the South.

Geographic Features of Saudi Arabia

• The southwestern Asir region has mountains as high as 3,000 m, and is known for having the greenest and freshest atmosphere in all of Saudi Arabia.

• The Red Sea lies to the West of Saudi Arabia.

• A large space of Deserts are also found in Saudi Arabia. And some factories are built there, as you can see in the picture to the right.

Climate of Saudi Arabia

• Saudi Arabia’s climate varies between 20-30 °C. It all depends on where you are located in Saudi Arabia.

• Saudi Arabia is one of the driest countries in the world. The rainfall averaging is less than 5 inches per year.

• In summer the temperature varies between 40-44°C.

Environment of Saudi Arabia• Palm trees and small herbs

and shrubs are the most known type of plants found in Saudi Arabia, and some green fields are found in Asir.

• The most known type of animal is a Falcon. Falcons are type of birds, that feed on pidgins. Falcons are caught and trained.

• There are different types of (piousness) snakes found in Saudi, and so are different types of lizards.

• Camels are also found, and they are used mostly by Bedouins.

History of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia's events threw out the years.

The king dies, and his son takes over.

Saudi takes over ARAMCO

Saudi troops in Kuwait.

Bomb in the US base.

English men arrested

US troops leave

Abd-al-Aziz took control of Riyadh, and brought the Sa'ud family back into Saudi Arabia.

Oil is discovered, and the US controls ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company).

King Abd-al-Aziz dies. And his son Sa'ud Bin-Abd-al-Aziz Al Sa'ud takes his place.

Saudi Arabia takes full control of ARAMCO

from the US.

Saudi troops attack Kuwait from air forces, and land forces.

Bomb explodes in the US base in Saudi Arabia, and then kills 19 humans and 300 humans are wounded.

Some British workers are arrested in Riyadh for a series of blast.

US takes out most of its troops, and closes the US base in Saudi Arabia due to the gulf war in 1991

Customs and Traditions• Saudi Arabian men have to

wear thobe and a kheffeyeh

• Women cannot leave their houses until they have a niquab(veil) drawn over their faces.

• The sword dance or the countrywide al-ardha dance is an important cultural attraction.

• Saudi women must wear a long cloak (abava)and veil (niqab) when they leave the house to protect their modesty

Government of Saudi Arabia• Saudi Arabia is a monarchy

country, Lead by “King Abdullah bin Abdul aziz”.

• The king was elected by the vote of the (male) citizens.

• The king's powers are supposedly limited within the Shari'a and other Saudi traditions.

• Since 1953, the Council of Ministers, selected by the king, has directed on the regulations of general policy and directed the activities of the growing environment.

Economy of Saudi Arabia

• Oil is a very known product in Saudi Arabia, and from that they provide Petroleum, Petroleum is bought from Saudi Arabia by countries from all over the world.

• With the money got from the Petroleum, An amount of money is given to the Government so that then more Schools, Hospitals are built.

Tourism in Saudi Arabia

• Coastal areas: These are areas which have sea fronts such as Jeddah in the Western Region and Dammam and AlKhobar in the East.

• Areas of natural magnificence: such asTaif, Al Baha and Abha.

• Historical sites: such as Mada‘ in Salih in Diriyah which are renown for their archeological find.

 

Global Awareness

Global Awareness relates to three topics in Saudi Arabia, and these topics are as the following:*Physical *Political and *Economic.

• Physical: In Saudi Arabia, many sand dunes are found. These sand dunes have been found in Saudi Arabia from history. A place; city in Saudi Arabia called (Asir), is filled with green mountains, and it is the greenest land found in Saudi Arabia.

• Political: From a political view, Saudi Arabia has no problems right now, although just couple of years ago, the American base that was in Saudi Arabia shut down, and opened in Qatar, and the second issue being faced by the Saudi Government is the Qaeda troop of Osama Bin Laden, because Osama is from Saudi Arabia.

• Economic: The Economy of Saudi is widely spread around the Middle East and that is because of the (hajj). Every year an enormous amount of people from over the world, mostly from the Middle East countries, visit Saudi Arabia for an Islamic religious cause, and that is the Hajj. So many hotels are used and many are occupied by these people.
