How to Get Vietnam Visa Upon Arrival
Vietnam visas are now available upon arrival in Vietnam. Citizens of some countries can gain
access to Vietnam without a visa. However, other citizens need to procure a visa either in
advance or when they arrive in the country.
When one lands in Vietnam by air, there are two kinds of visas that they can opt for. They can
either get a conventional visa from the Vietnamese embassy or consulate in their country before
they leave their home country, or they can opt for a Vietnam visa upon arrival. One needs to
follow the following steps in order to get this kind of visa. Please note that since this kind of visa
is based on an electronic visa system, this service is available only in airports. All other modes
of entry into Vietnam require a visa that is acquired before leaving the country.
Firstly, travelers require a pre-approval letter that is necessary for the issue of the visa
on arrival. These letters are available from any travel agency or partner that is based in
Vietnam. Many websites also offer an online form that can be filled and sent through the
web in order to receive the letter. For more details, click here.
Secondly, travelers need to print out this letter and keep two passport photos ready with
it. This letter is necessary in order to board the flight to Vietnam. At the airport in
Vietnam, travelers are generally required to show the airport authorities this pre-
approved letter with the photos, and they will be directed to a special counter, which is
the “Landing Visa” counter, where they will ultimately receive their visa.
Thirdly, at the counter, travelers need to pay the stamped fee for the visa. This fee can
be paid in USD in cash. Ensure that you have enough cash on hand, as payment by
credit card is unfortunately not accepted. The tariff differs from time to time, depending
on the length of the traveler’s stay in Vietnam.
Finally, once the stamped fee is paid, travelers will be issued an instant visa by the
immigration officers and the passport will be duly stamped.
This entire process usually takes around five to ten minutes, depending on the traffic at the
airport. However, this method of obtaining a visa is far more efficient and easier, allowing more
travelers to visit Vietnam without any hassles. For more details, you can click here.
