The Ravenous PigThe Ravenous Pig name says it all. This American gastropub in Winter Park, run by chef owners James & Julie, brings fun to the modern meatery. This couple has won national acclaim for creating fresh, creative dishes for “The Pig” and its sister, Cask & Larder. They work with a select group of local farmers and fisherman to bring the best in seasonal foods to their menus. House-made sausages and pastas are daily fare along with fresh Florida seafood. Favorites include Canaveral Shrimp ‘n Grits, Pork Porterhouse, and Gruyère Biscuits. Warm fritters with chocolate espresso sauce will end your meal on a high note. Stop by for Swine Hour Tue-Fri at 4 for the $4 BLT sliders with tomato jam on pretzel bread or the fish and chips with Worcestershire chips. Be sure to pick up The Ravenous Pig cookbook to share with your loved ones back home.  http://www.theravenouspig.com/

K’s RestaurantIt’s tough to argue with the farm-to-table philosophy especially when the results are delicious. Based on the talents of NYC native Chef Kevin Forzo, K’s menus feature fresh and local ingredients even from the restaurant’s own garden and, as such, are subject to change daily. If you’re a Northerner, you should try the Southern-style gumbo, the fried green tomatoes served with crab-corn salad and grain mustard dressing or one of the selections of freshly caught fish from Florida’s coast, such as the North Florida Red Grouper or the Cape Canaveral Mahi. The deviled eggs and mac n’ cheese also win wide applause.

Chatham’s PlaceFor an evening of fine dining, try Chatham’s Place, a cozy place a world apart from the tourist food scene. For starters, try the lobster bisque or beef carpaccio. Everyone at the table will enjoy the crispy-crusted bread stuffed with herbs and feta cheese. The rack of lamb rosemary au jus and the duck breast are stand outs. Chatham’s provides excellent service, and the live piano music makes the evening more special. There’s a sommelier on staff, but you can bring your own wine if you prefer. Don’t forget to save room for the white chocolate soufflé or key lime pie.  http://www.chathamsplace.com/

Mediterranean BlueServing fresh Greek fare, Mediterranean Blue offers traditional dishes: gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita (filo with spinach and feta), dolmades (stuffed grapes leaves), and moussaka (eggplant casserole) with some interesting additions such as Greek-seasoned fries. Ask to sample the deli salads, such as black-eyed pea or cucumber. The tzatziki sauce is thick and rich and the hummus is loaded with garlic. The baklava will leave you wishing for more. Super casual, the deli atmosphere is a good place for a quick bite and a beer. 100% Halal. http://mediterraneanblue.net/
