Hastinapur or Hastinapuram - (Sanskrit) Hastin (elephant) and puram(city) is a city which might have been named so because of the existence of a huge numberof elephants in the forests adjoining this place there is an another interpretation states thatthis region was ruled by a king ‘Hastin’ of ‘Kuru Vansha’. It is located on the right bank of anold bed of the Ganga, known in literature and tradition as the capital of the Kauravas of theMahabharata epic. Three Jaina tirthankaras, Sailtinatha, Kunthunatha and Aranatha, arealso believed to have been associated with Hastinapura.

Teen Murti Mandir -Jambudweep Jain TempleThe Teen Murthy Mandir is a 5 feet high whitecoloured marble idol of Lord Adinath inKayotsarga is consecrated in the main vedhi,this idol is flanked by the idols of Bharat andBahubali on its right and left respectively.

Astapad Jain Temple

It is the tallest (151 ft (46 m)) brick structure. The entire structure has four entrances and builtover eight floors (ground + seven) are very huge and at the seventh floor there is a templededicated to Lord Adinath.

Shri Kailash Parvat Jain Temple

Kailash parvat is known as the place of salvation of Lord Adinath. This temple consists of agroup of 72 small temples and a main temple. The 72 temples are dedicated to the trikalaTirthankaras i.e. the Tirthankaras belonging to all the three periods (past, present andfuture).

Old Pandeshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and assumed as 7000 years old . A statueof Goddess Kali and many Hindu Ashrams are also present on hillock of ruins.

Karna temple 5000 B.C. lies on the bank of old ravine of Ganges. The Shivling inside Karnatemple is said to be established by Karna, one of the central figure in the epic ofMahabharata.

from Hastinapur. BhaiDharam Singh (1666–1708)was one of the Panj Pyare(Punjabi) or the FiveBeloved, the forerunners ofKhalsa. He was born hereand the son of Bhai SantRam of this village Saifpur.

Hastinapur SanctuaryThe Hastinapur Sanctuary sprawling in an area of 2073 km2 and it was founded in 1986, in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bijnore and Jyotiba Phule Nagar.The population of the wild animals includes various species of animals including antelope, sambhar, cheetal, blue bull, leopard, hyena, wild cat, and different types of birds. It is also houses of

antelope, sambhar, cheetal, blue bull, leopard, hyena, wild cat, and different types of birds. It is also houses of alligators.•Mammals – Leopard, Wild Cats, Monkey, Fox, Wolf, Jackals, Mongoose, Bijju, Deers, Wild Hogs, Hares/Rabbits, Musk-Rats and Bats etc inhabit the Sanctuary prolifically.•Amphibians /Reptiles – Turtles, Python, Cobra Krait and viper are found in large numbers in the region. Crocodiles are also commonly found.•Birds – Brown Partridges, Black Partridge, Quail, Peacock , Pigeon, Falcons and Hawks, Spotted Bill, Cranes, Eagles, Owls, White Vulture, Cuckoo and Nightingales. Kingfishers, Mynahs, Red-Vented Bulbuls, Sparrows, Baya etc are found in abundance in the region.
