US Airfare Trend Report
Week of April 27, 2015
FLYR Inc.fb.com/getflyr FLYRLabs.com @FLYR_Research
Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• Say hello to fare increases as the summertime demand starts settling in. Fares for this
cohort include the first week of June, where we have the initial wave of vacationers of the summer.

Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• Drops were not very widespread, so there’s not as much to glean from the seemingly large fare
drops at these major carriers.• That said, the fare hikes are not trivial. Over half of the flights from Virgin and Frontier went up in
price, and among those flights, consumers are seeing $30 week-on-week changes.

Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• Interestingly enough, we see Houston (Bush Intercontinental) being represented in the top
10 fare hike airports.• Providence had a whopping 98% of all flights go down in price, but only by a median of $3.

Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• The fare drop percentages aren’t much to look at, but they surprisingly include a few sunny
locales that we’re not used to seeing, like Hilo, Hawaii and Miami.

Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• Memphis airfares had a bout of split personality this past week. Of the fares that rose, they
rose by a lot - $250. Of those that dropped, they dropped by even more: $380.

Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• So, the story with the Charleston flight is that a super-expensive flight last week got re-
priced down towards something more meaningful. The average airfare to Charleston is in the mid-$300s.

Data cohort: Flights departing May 2, 2015 – June 6, 2015• Observation period: 7 days ending April 25, 2015
Notes• Flights from LAX to
San Francisco and Phoenix saw some broad fare hikes. While it’s not much, the LAX-SFO shuttle route is among the most stable in terms of pricing and traffic, so there was definitely some unexpected demand there.
• Rather unexpected is the 89% fare drop on the DFW-LAX route, especially by a median $252!
