Accessibility DescriptionThe Accessible Walking Tour – Rome in a Day is the longest of all of our accessible walking tours in Rome. Over the course of the day you may walk 5 to 8 km. Disabled visitors who are looking for a full-day tour but can not walk or roll this far can take our Rome wheelchair accessible van tour.


On this full day accessible Rome walking tour, you will start off your tour visiting the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Disabled access at the Colosseum is provided by a ramp on the west side of the building. There is flat access into the interior to see where gladiators dueled or you can take the elevator to the upper level for a birds eye view.

The accessible entrance to the Roman Forum is located on Via dei Fori Imperiali where an elevator can take disabled visitors down into the Forum. Wheelchair access inside the Roman Forum is challenging with lots of uneven ground and steps.

To get from Ancient Rome to the Vatican, you can walk/roll or hail a taxi. Your guide will escort you to a wheelchair accessible restaurant near the Vatican. When you get the Vatican Museums entrance, disabled access to the Vatican is by a ramp and an elevator.


The Sistine Chapel is reached by a wheelchair lift shown on our Sistine Chapel disabled access page. The St. Peter’s wheelchair accessible entrance is located in St. Peter’s Square which is about 500 meters away from the Vatican Museums entrance.


After this Accessible Walking Tour – Rome in a Day visits the Vatican, you will walk/roll or take a taxi to the attractions in the city center. The Pantheon is surrounded by cobblestones but has a ramp at the front left of the building.


The Piazza Navona has a single step to get up to the Fountain of Four Rivers. A half-step can be found at the north end of the piazza. The Trevi Fountain has a series of steps approaching it, but disabled visitors can see it just fine without going down the steps.
