Denver Free Walking Tours Launches June 1st, 2015 Daily Tours Highlight the Unique Landmarks, History and Architecture of Downtown Denver for Locals and Visitors

Denver, CO (May 11, 2015) – Denver Free Walking Tours (DFWT) will be launching daily free walking tours of downtown Denver on June 1st. The fun two-hour tours will be led by one of DFWT’s four professional guides, intro-ducing residents and visitors alike to the landmarks, art, culture, history, and architecture that make Denver unique. DFWT created a 1.8 mile tour route that begins at the Veteran’s Memorial in Civic Center Park, winds its way through downtown Denver, and ends next to Coors Field. The best part? No reservations required; just meet your DFWT Guide, who will be wearing a bright green shirt with the DFWT logo, at the Veteran’s Memorial at 10:00 a.m. – rain, shine, or snow. Tours are wheelchair and stroller accessible and are intended for kids and adults of all ages. As you join your guide, they’ll share countless highlights and facts from more than a dozen tour stops, including some of these local favorites: Yes, there is a pooping eagle statue looking down at you on top of our City & County building thanks to a very

frustrated artist One of Denver’s infamous robbers, one-legged Orville Harrington, was quite a sneak, stealing 53 gold bars

(worth $2 million today) while he was employed at the Denver Mint Some of the more unique considerations for our state’s name before Colorado was established in 1876: Cibola,

Lula, Weapollao, and Tahosa Because we think that Denver is unique and we want to share our fun, exciting city with everyone, regardless of budget, our tours operate on a “pay-what-you-like” tipping model. With our experienced guides working for tips only, you know that they are going to go the extra mile to make sure that all participants have a great tour, enjoy the experience, learn something new, answer all questions, and give great local recommendations. Denver Free Walking Tours is a proud partner of VISIT Denver and looks forward to showcasing our amazing city beginning this summer. Please visit www.denverfreewalkingtours.com or contact Jill Collins at [email protected] for more information. DFWT Company Bio The Story Denver Free Walking Tours (DFWT) was founded by Jill Collins and Matt Collins. Jill (a “Sconie”) and Matt (a Kiwi) met while both were living in Sydney, Australia twelve years ago, and spent the next decade traveling around the world (taking part in many excellent free walking tours) whenever they had the chance around their full-time jobs. Together they decided to start Denver Free Walking Tours as a tour guide cooperative, offering high-quality, entertaining, free walking tours as a way to have some fun, work with great people, and show off the great city of Denver to both locals and people from all over the world! Jill and Matt live in downtown Denver, love the city, and only wished there was a free walking tour available back when they moved to beautiful Colorado. They've surrounded themselves with a team of guides who are equally passionate and knowledgeable about Denver and the unique history, architecture, and landmarks that make Denver their home. The DFWT Team Working with Jill and Matt is an amazing team of four guides – Lily, Nina, Adam, and Emily. Professional, charismatic, and dynamic – we couldn't be happier with the job they do. DFWT Guides are a mix of young and veteran professionals - tour guides, actors, history buffs, teachers, storytellers, and world travelers. With the DFWT team you get energy, enthusiasm, wit and wisdom! We're also great at giving local recommendations to the city we love - restaurants, shows, sites, attractions - we've got you covered!

Lily is a member of the Rocky Mountain Tour Guide Assoc., is a fun-loving people person, knows her facts, has an excellent memory, and looks forward to entertaining guests.

Emily is super engaged in the city of Denver - from public speaking to canvass-ing to writing a novel entitled Follow Colfax. Her high energy will keep her tours rocking.

Nina is an experienced leader, teacher, and volunteer. She loves meeting new people and likes to send people away knowing they are leaving, what she considers, the best city ever.

Adam enjoys reading his crowd and adapting the tour to their interests and backgrounds, which means a great, personal experience if you're lucky enough to join Adam on one of his tours.

DFWT FAQ’s How can the tour be free? Because we think that Denver is unique and we want to share our fun, exciting tour through the city with everyone, regardless of your budget, our tours operate on a "pay-what-you-like" tipping model. We think that you should decide how much you feel your Denver tour was worth when your tour is finished. With tour guides working for tips only, you know they are going to go the extra mile to make sure that you have a GREAT tour, enjoy your experience, learn something new, answer any questions you have, and give local recommendations! When do the Denver Free Walking Tours (DFWT) take place? Tours are seven days a week, rain, shine, (or snow!), at 10:00 am. Our team does observe a few holidays, so no tours each year on: July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, December 24th, December 25th, and January 1st Do the tours ever get cancelled for weather? The show must go on! Our tours go out rain or shine. Dress appropriately for the conditions. If the weather is less than ideal your guide will try to include as many “inclement weather” indoor stops as possible. DFWT may cancel or postpone a tour due to extreme bad weather - please check our Facebook page in the morning, before the scheduled tour, if you believe there may be a possibility of extreme weather cancelling or postponing that day's tour. Is it necessary to make reservations? Nope! Unless you are a group of more than six people, just look for your tour guide at the Veteran’s Memorial wearing a bright green shirt with the DFWT logo on the front and back! What if there are more than 6 people in my party? For groups of more than 6 people, PLEASE email us to make a reservation 72 hours (3 days) in advance. For school groups or other groups, we recommend doing a private tour, where we will discover Denver together, taking into account your group's needs and interests! Where is the meeting point for the free tours? The tour begins at the Veteran’s Memorial in Civic Center Park, located to the west of our Capitol building. The Veteran’s Memorial is on the block of Civic Center Park that has Broadway directly to the west, Lincoln St. to the east, W. 14th Ave. to the south and Colfax to the north.

DFWT FAQ’s (Continued) How can I get to the meeting point? Our starting location in Civic Center Park is just a few blocks from 16th Street Mall and all downtown Denver has to offer! Driving/Parking: There are eight parking garages and surface lots within two blocks of Civic Center Park. To see the locations of these garages please visit our website. Street parking is only good for two hours, so we recommend against it as you probably won't be back to your car in time. Walking: From the downtown area, head southeast down 16th St. Mall, turn right on Broadway. You will walk south about two blocks, cross over Colfax Ave., and the meeting spot (the Veteran’s Memorial) will be half a block south of Colfax on your left. Taxi/Uber/Lyft: Ask your driver to drop you off at Civic Center Park on the corner of Colfax Ave. and E. Broadway Ave. The meeting location is half a block down, as you head towards 14th Ave., on the east side of Broadway. What if we are running late for the tour? Please try to be on time. We recommend arriving at the starting location about 5-10 minutes before the tour starts and your tour guide will arrive about 5 minutes before the tour's start time. If you are running 5-10 minutes late, please feel free to quietly join the tour group, as the group will be at or near the starting location for the first part of the tour, as there is a lot to see and talk about around the Capitol and Civic Center Park. Will my kid(s) like these tours? That really depends on your kid(s)! Our tours are definitely suitable for children and teens and have been designed to be a good fit for all ages. Your guide is also trained and experienced in working with all ages. What are the languages spoken on the free tours? Tours are currently offered in English only. Are there any private tours? Yes, just contact us and we will arrange it! We guarantee you the same fun, informative experience or will customize the tour to your unique interests, preferences, or needs.

DFWT FAQ’s (Continued) How long do the tours take? The free city tour lasts about two hours and we will walk about 1.8 miles. Where do the free tours end? We couldn't think of a better place to end the tour than in front of Coors Field, home of our Rockies baseball team! There are a ton of restaurants, shops, and attractions, including 16th Street Mall, all within a 5 minute walk. Is it necessary to bring anything with me on my tour? Not really, simply comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a bottle of water and be ready to have some fun!
