Coach,
My name is Patrick Steenberge and I played Quarterback and lettered two seasons under coach Ara Parseghian at Notre Dame. It was at school that I learned the importance of team work and also of the power, influence and importance of international travel.
Global Football is an international sports travel organization providing the opportunity for young amateur athletes from different countries to compete against one another, while experiencing and learning firsthand about each other's cultures, customs and history.
At Global Football we believe in, and indeed see every year, the incredible effect of educational sports travel. At the beginning of each new football season hundreds of our travelers (players, staff, coaches, family, fans and friends included) return home better citizens, more confident, more enthusiastic in the classroom and on the playing field; more engaged in the world around them; better prepared for life and more likely to make a difference to each other as team mates.
Lead an educational sports tour with us and you’ll get your students’ attention and keep it. And best of all you’ll make a difference in their lives. I encourage you to contact one of your fellow coaches who have traveled with us to hear what their experiences were.
Happy trails!
Patrick Steenberge
President Global Sports Group.

Resort Information
The location of the hotel accommodation for this tour is in a coastal resort on the Costa Brava called LLoret de Mar which is approximately 40 miles north of Barcelona. Lloret de Mar is a popular destination thanks to its nice clean, sandy beaches, clear waters and idyllic creeks. Lloret offers the visitor a great choice of entertainment: aquatic parks, golf clubs, casino, harbour, restaurants and shops. At night, Lloret is one of the most lively towns in the Costa Brava, with lots of discos and bars.
Your hotel has exotic gardens, beautiful terraces, three swimming pools, waterfalls, tennis court, solarium, gym and comfortable rooms with evening entertainment and is well located for the beach and lively town centre.

Barcelona
Barcelona has transformed itself from smug backwater into one of the most dynamic and stylish cities in the world. Summer is serious party time, with week-long fiesta fun. But year-round the city sizzles – it's always on the biting edge of architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times.
The wild and whimsical architecture of Gaudí dominates the streets of Barcelona and makes for some of the finest city-walking in the world. The art will beckon you from museums and streetsides. The vibrant central drag, La Rambla, will lead you to the city's marvellous medieval quarter, Barri Gòtic.

Day 2 – Barcelona Walking Tour
Flowers, pedestrian boulevards, and decorative pavement make Barcelona a great walking city, and your Tour Director will show you where to stroll. See the Mercat de la Boquería, where the bright colors of fruits and vegetables, spices, fresh seafood and meat -- not to mention about a hundred different types of cheese -- vie for space in the market stalls. In the city center you'll see the Monument a Colom, a towering statue of Christopher Columbus. Gaze at the city stretched out before you, the mountains in the distance, and the Mediterranean Sea at your back. Then it's on to the best walk in the city, Las Ramblas, a mile-long pedestrian street that offers up the carnival of urban Barcelona. Browse through the strip's famous open-air shops. Pull up a chair, order a café con leche, and watch the parade of street performers from your seat.

Day 3 – Sightseeing
On your sightseeing tour, see why Barcelona is an art lover’s dream city and the place where masters like Miró, Picasso and Dalí flourished. Explore open-air plazas dotted with avant-garde gems, like the Plaza de Catalunya to Plaza España. Snap photos of the twisting spires of La Sagrada Familia (the Church of the Holy Family) and the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, which delights with dazzling light and water shows.
From atop Montjuïc Hill enjoy panoramic views of the harbor below. Here, you’ll also find the 1992 Olympic stadium. Marvel at the landscaped greenery and playful Modernist mosaics as you cap off your tour with a visit to Parque Guell.

Day 5 - Figueres & Girona
Travel to Figueras, a Catalan city on the Costa Brava. You’ll visit a one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to the surrealist world of renowned Spanish painter Salvador Dalí. Built on the remains of the former Municipal Theater that was destroyed at the end of the Spanish Civil War, Dalí created the museum as a repository for some of his most famous works, including Soft SelfPortrait with Fried Bacon and The Girl from Figueres. Don’t miss the living room designed as “The Face of Mae West,” with the famous red sofa as her lips. Today the Dalí Theatre-Museum is the largest surrealistic object in the world and counts among the most visited museums in Spain.

See brilliant Barcelona, a city of graceful Gothic churches, wrought-iron balconies and wide, grand avenues filled with outdoor cafés. Throughout the city, daringly innovative buildings sit side-by-side with the medieval past. A licensed, local guide will show you some of the high points of this architectural showcase. First stop: the pointy spires of the La Sagrada Familia (Church of the Holy Family), a half-finished church complex that became the obsession of Barcelona's famously eccentric architectural genius, Antoni Gaudí.
Day 6 - Barcelona
WWW.GLOBALFOOTBALL.COM
One of Catalonia’s most intriguing landmarks, the bizarre Church of the Holy Family designed by modernist architect Antoni Gaudi, was started in 1882, but it remains unfinished and an object of controversy. Gaudi worked on what was considered his masterpiece until his death in 1926, imbuing the structure with his characteristic fantastic Art Nouveau styling. Work has continued sporadically since, but Gaudi left no plans for its completion and the continued construction has run rampant.
