COCONUT BAY SHARING THE LOVE

OVER ELEVEN THOUSAND HANDED OUT TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS

On February 11th, 2015, three (3) days ahead of Valentine’s Day, Coconut Bay Beach Resort &

Spa staged a special cheque hand-over ceremony at the hotel entitled “Sharing the Love”.

During the ceremony in question a total of EC $11,500.00 was handed out to community

partners within the education and health sectors. The ceremony was held at the “lazy River”,

the venue for the weekly Rubber Duck Race (a fundraising event used to generate revenue to

support philanthropic efforts).

Beneficiaries from the latest disbursement were the St Jude and Lions Pre Schools as well as

the Vieux Fort Special Education Centre each receiving cash donations of EC $500.00. In

addition a cheque of EC $10, 000.00 was presented to the Dr. Chierry Poyotte, CEO of St Jude

Hospital representing proceeds of races over the past months. The donation to the three

schools was generated during a special duck race staged on November 18th in

commemoration of UN International Children’s Day.

Fifty percent of revenue from the weekly duck race is allocated to the St Jude Hospital which

is the main beneficiary. Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa has a Memorandum of

Understanding with the St Jude Hospital and has adopted the Pediatric Ward of the hospital.

The remaining fifty percent of the weekly Rubber Duck Race is applied to assist social

programmes and other community partners.

Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa is pleased to have been able to provide tangible sponsorship

to the latest beneficiaries. With the combined resources and goodwill of our guest, staff and

ownership of the property, Coconut Bay will continue to spread the love as we advance

efforts towards sustaining livelihoods, building partnerships and taking care of the south.
