Please see also: http://www.slideshare.net/michaelasanda/claudio-bravo1-42723233 http://www.slideshare.net/michaelasanda/claudio-bravo2 Born in Chile, Claudio Bravo has lived and worked in Tangier, Morocco since 1972. The artist first established himself in Madrid in the 1960s as a society portraitist, gaining recognition for his astounding ability to create verisimilitude. Bravo has demonstrated mastery in all techniques and mediums on paper. His superior draftsmanship closely resembles the style of the Renaissance-Baroque tradition. His ability to depict creases, indentations, and folds in his still lifes is reminiscent of Spanish masters such as Zurbarán and Velázquez. Bravo is a master of contemporary hyperrealism. Often depicting scenes from his estate in Tangier, Morocco, his still-life, landscape, and figure paintings are rendered with remarkably refined technical skill, and hint at an underlying sensuality.

Chilean-born painter Claudio Bravo moved to Morocco where he had three homes: in Taroudant, a house dubbed "the refuge of the artist" - a fortress against the outside world; in Marrakech, a small palace in the Medina, and in Tangier, a sublime garden house.
