on a ship called the endeavour. His ship broke during his trip on the great Barrier reef. His ship crashed in between two coral reefs on June 1769.

• Cook had rediscovered New Zealand which was originally discovered by Abel Tasman in 1642. He spent several months circling and surveying North Island and South Island. He also went to the great Barrier reef.

When was he born?

• He was born on October 27 1728 and Died February 14 1779.

Where was the voyage?

• The Endeavour travelled through the Madeira Canary, Cape Verde and rounded Cape Horn into the Pacific.
