2. The Biharis are an ethnic group originating from the state of Bihar in India with a history going back. Biharis speak Bihari languages such as Magahi, Bhojpuri, Mait hili, amongst other local dialects, as well as Hindi or Urdu 3. LIFE STYLE: Language, Dressing, Music, Foods, Festivals and religion. 4. DRESSING 5. Dressing: The traditional dress of Bihari people: Male wear the dhoti, kurta & pyjama. While Female of Bihari wears sari. Nevertheless, Western shirts and trousers are becoming popular among the urban population. Muslim, Christian, and Sikh Biharis use attar, a perfume. Jewelry such as rings for men and bangles for women are popular. 6. Language: Hindi and Urdu are the official languages of the state, whilst the majority of the people speak one of the Bihari languages - Bhojpuri, Magadhi, Maithili or Angika. More than 12.7 million people speak Maithili. Language of bihar has divided int two parts: 1> Those people who speaks Bihari language (Including, Bhojpuri, Magadhi, Maithili Or Angrika) 2> Especially in Pakistan, Bihari people speaks Biahri language in composition with (Urdu and Hindi) 7. Bihari cuisine is predominantly vegetarian because traditional Bihar society influenced by Buddhist and Hindu values of non-violence did not eat eggs, chicken, fish and other animal products. However there is also a tradition of meat- eating and fish dishes are especially common due to the number of rivers in Bihar such as the Sone, Gandak and the Ganges 9. In India, Bihari Muslims are found in the Kishanganj, Katihar, Araria, Sivan, Purnia, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Champaran districts of Bihar. Rituals Of Birth In Behari Culture On the birth of a baby in Behari culture they used to sing song, play music (Composed On Dholak, Tabla and Harmonium). According to some behari people they celebrate it as their on of their festivals 14. Rituals Of Marriage In Behari Culture The most notable of them all is Diku-Andi, which is arranged by go-betweens. Another important form is Raji-Khushi, in which boys and girls take the initiative. 15. Rituals Of Death In Behari Culture On Death (Bihari Muslim and Christians) Burried their love ones. While (Bihari Hindus) do their rituals of death as the same way normally do. 16. Festivals 17. Chhath The Chhath Puja is performed in order to thank Surya for sustaining life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes Chhath is an ancient Hindu festival and only Vedic Festival dedicated to the Hindu Sun God, Surya, also known as Surya Shashti. 18. Pitru Paksha It is a 15 day Fair held on the bank of River Falgu at Gaya during Pitru Paksha every year. Pilgrims from all corners of the country visit Gaya for offering Pinda to their Ancestors 19.
