London Citizens is made up of 160 member communities across 22 London Boroughs which include schools, universities, churches, mosques, and many other institutions (a posh name for a group or organisation)

London Citizens works to develop citizens’ skills of doingpolitics – with young people and adults, together. Here one

of our leaders is negotiating with the Mayor of London

London Citizens Trains and Supports leaders in all our communities develop their skills for making change happen. Each borough has an organiser

who supports the communities who join. Before he was President, Barack Obama was a community

organiser!!

London Citizens Takes Action To improve London. Here are some examples

• Ending Poverty by winning a London Living Wage of £7.60 per hour

• Supporting the rights of people forced to flee their countries to seek safe sanctuary (help and support)

• Making Streets Safer by building relationships between the community, shopkeepers and the police with City Safe Havens

• Campaigning for affordable Housing, Our Homes our London

• Enabling young people and communities to become responsible and streetwise with their money:

• Launched in 2001

• Living Wage now £7.60/hour

• £30m and counting into pockets of lowest paid.

• 5500 families lifted out of working poverty.
