Amazing Tonle Sap Lake One Day Tour

Tour Overview: The beautiful Tonle Sap Lake reveals the largest natural lake in South Eastern Asia, and is the backbone tourism of Cambodia. You spend this day out on a boat and cruise through the scenic countryside to see fishermen catching fish in the morning and at night. You also visit some floating villages and watch the various bird species. The shallow Tonle Sap Lake is linked to the mighty Mekong River by the Tonle Sap River. In rainy season, the high waters of the Mekong River reverse the flow of the Tonle Sape River and increase the lake size from about 2, 600 to 10,400 sq km, making it one of the largest of fresh water bodies in Southeast Asia. The waters of the Tonle Sap River then flood the lake, increasing its size tenfold and flooding the surrounding forests and fields, leaving behind fertile silt for rice cultivation. In dry season, the lake drains and the river returns to its southern flow

Tour Itinerary: 8h30: Our tour guide and driver pick you up at your hotel in Siem Reap and drive on a rugged road to the pier. On arrival we embark on a boat for a full day excursion to explore Tonle Sap Lake. We pass by the Chong Keas on our way to the bustling floating village of Prek Toal. There is an exciting cruise around this village as we see the local lifestyle close up. Lunch will be served on boat. We continue venturing into the flooded forest to watch many species of rare water birds.
