• PS: If the incoming NC wants to know more about the sixtieth I am willing to come and tell more about it.

• EPs in other citieis were quite lonely. But we arranged each year, end of summer a Norway in a nutshell tour that was very popular.

• We only accepted 10 new members each year to each LC - and the member really had to work hard. And they did because so many were not allowed in (+-50 applied).

Late 2000’s

The random info we know from the top of our heads

Page 20: AIESEC Norway history

MC 2007-2008: the dark year

– Members and EBs had no clue about AIESEC – 80.000 NOK loss in a conference (BI used Radison SAS

as sleeping venue) – Paying out bonuses to MC – Financial lack of control, especially with FK (leading to

a 500.000 NOK debt to FK that we are still trying to solve)

– Conference name were changed to Excel, Achieve and Unite (before they were NC1, NC2 and NC3)

– P&L look good in theory, but next MC had to absorve almost a million in lost claims from this term

– BoD is established in the end of this term because of Global membership criteria

Page 21: AIESEC Norway history

2008-2009: Going bankrupt

• Financial crisis hit, most TN available are withdrawn and never get realized

• First time with VP Finance especific position • BoD first meeting

– MC realizes it’s going bankrupt because of lack of exchange performance (especially in TNs)

• Cash flow issues force MC to cut 2 salaries (VPF keeps working, VP Comm and ER decides to quit)

• Members and EBs are still a huge challenge in terms of performance

• In the last weeks of the term, a new financial model is approved (with a lot of fight) making the LCs paying part of the MC costs monthly

Page 22: AIESEC Norway history

2009-2010: big bang!

• Financial model implemented, LCs start paying MC for part of MC costs

• Huge cut in membership numbers to address the challenge of lack of performance

• Besides membership cut, exchange numbers grow (a lot based on OGX, where RA records are broken)

• Salary cuts still happening, but not so much because of cash flow, but to go on profit

• Exchange and performance culture starts to get stronger

• Big challenge in the end of the year with leadership pipeline and lack of members
