DESCRIPTION

We have beautiful Japanese inn, Ryokan. You'll sleep in a futon with tatami-matted floor, wear traditional yukata, and spend at a homely atmosphere. You'll never have such experience at hotels. So, you'll truly have the Japanese experience at ryokan. However, the number of ryokans introduced to foreign tourists is much less than the actual needs. There are 330 ryokans in total in Tokyo. However, only 15 are listed on booking sites. In our project, we're trying to provide lots of ryokan information by collaborating with local ryokans in Tokyo. We'll help solving their language problems, making English documents, and promoting their ryokans. At the same time, ryokan has decreased 30% in the last 10 years. Ryokan is traditional and the best place to experience the real Japanese culture. If we don't act, we'll lose such beautiful ryokans. I started this project to help ryokan owners do their business and foreign tourists find their best ryokans. Please check our website and we'll be glad if you can share with your friends. http://www.ryokan-tokyo.com

The  number  of  ryokan  has  been  decreasing.

Number  of  accommodation  in  Japan

30%  of  ryokans  have  lost  the  last  10  years.

Page 15: About Ryokan Tokyo Project

Ryokan  used  to  be  the  most  popular  accommodation  for  domestic  travelers.  In  1980s,  over  80%  of  rooms  were  reserved  in  average.

However,  most  Japanese  people  now  prefer  hotels  rather  than  ryokans.  Only  about  30%  of  rooms  are  reserved  currently.
