here.

‘Spodek

’ means

‘saurcer

’ in

Polish.

Doesn’t

Yes! There’s also a

swimming pool, an ice

rink and even a

hotel inside.

This is the Statue of a

Polish Soldier in Katowice. There are names of

battlefields from World

War II written on

the statue.

It’s one of the

biggest and

heaviest Silesian

statues. It weighs 80

tones!

This is the football stadium of GKS

Katowice, a well-known sports

club.

‘Górniczy Klub

Sportowy’, which means ‘Miners’ Sports

Club’. They currently play in

Polish First League.

Football is one of the most popular sports in Poland.

Welcome to Tatra Mountains. Behind us is the highest mountain in Poland, Rysy. It’s 2499 metres

high!

This is the Vang church in Karpacz. It was built in the 12th

century. Guess

where? In Norway! It was later

transported to this town.

Sudety are so much different from Karpaty – much wilder and less crowded.

Małopolska, or Lesser Poland, is a

historical region in Poland. Its capital

is the city of Kraków.

This is the Royal Castle and the  Wawel Cathedral.

They’re located on a hill by the Vistula River. Some of the

buildings on the Wawel Hill were built in 970!

cities in Poland. The old town of

Toruń is the place

where the famous

astronomer Nicolaus

Copernicus was born.
