Some definitions

“Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform. Chief among those rules is this: Build applications that harness network effects to get better the more people use them.” Tim O Reilly

"Web 2.0 is really about normal everyday people using the Web and creating things on it - forget the acronyms.” Richard MacManus "The heart of Web 2.0 is the user... The tools power it, but the people do it.” Susan Mernit

Modules 1 – 3Everyone involved in the project should create an account on google to gain access to google apps.

We could use secondlife to build on the land that the appe@l project may reserve.  Possibility of holding a class online through Secondlife

How to build and maintain a wiki.

Have each participant start a blog about something that they’re passionate about on a free platform like wordpress or blogger.

Participants should sign up for google reader to allow them to read each other’s blogs and any other blogs they find interesting.

Have each particpant sign up for twitter and follow each other.  Use twitter to collaborate on projects and share ideas.  Can also be used to complement blogs.

What are we doing next?

how can we turn the project website into a

“social learning environment”?

but this is probably a question to be asked / answered in …

A “platform” with social media tools that can provide a space for

1. individualsindividuals to aggregate, store and share their personal learning and working resources

2. groupsgroups to work and learn together
