assigned network

credentials.

Yammer user name and

password.

User logs in to Yammer with

their email address and

request to your

organization s SAML 2.0

single sign-on server.

If authenticated, user is

allowed access to their

Yammer network.

If authenticated, user is

requesting user

credentials. User logs in

Yammer credentials - Using Yammer credentials enables you to create user accounts and passwords in

organization's network. Choose this option if you prefer to keep your organization s user accounts separate

from Yammer s user accounts.

Yammer's Directory Sync - Use your organization assigned email address to log in to Yammer by

implementing Yammer's Directory Sync tool. Directory Sync extracts some information from your

organization's Active Directory, creates matching directory information in Yammer, and then monitors the

change log in Active Directory for any changes to user accounts. For example, Directory Sync creates new

accounts in Yammer when new accounts are added to Active Directory, and accounts are suspended in

Yammer when accounts are disabled in Active Directory. Choose this option if you want users to use the

same credentials they use to access your organization s network, and you don t use a federated identity

management system (for example, Active Directory Federation Services).

Single sign-on - When using single sign-on in Yammer, users log in to Yammer using the same credentials

they use to access your organization s network. When authenticating, Yammer redirects the authentication

request to your organization s SAML-based single sign-on server. Your organization s single sign-on server

automatically logs in users based on your authentication mechanisms. Choose this option if your

organization uses a federated identity management system (for example, Active Directory Federation

Services).

How to set up single sign-on in Yammer:

1. Export and send the metadata file from your identity provider, or provide the following information to

Yammer: Entity ID, Endpoint URI, public certificate, and SAML version (2.0).

2. Yammer then creates an Identity Provider (IdP) connection by importing your metadata file created in

step 1. Yammer will then export the Identity Provider metadata to another file, which is sent to you.

3. Import the Identity Provider metadata file sent to you to create a Relying Party Trust. When complete,

contact Yammer to enable single sign-on for your Yammer Network.

4. Yammer activates single sign-on for your Yammer network. When this is done, users with Yammer

credentials will no longer be able to use them to authenticate. Instead, users must use their organization's

network credentials to access Yammer. To log in on a mobile device, use the log in screen, not the sign up

screen.
