Provisioning Server Entitlement
• Existing customers that are upgrading to Citrix XenServer 6.2 will receive one PVS entitlement for each server license that is upgraded and converted to a XenServer 6.2 socket license using the customer licensing portal.
• Customers can use the PVS entitlement in the same manner that they were previously entitled to under XenServer 6.1 (number of VMs, physical hosts).
• New Citrix XenServer 6.2 license (annual or perpetual) purchases (not conversions) do not include a Citrix Provisioning Server entitlement.
• There is no standalone SKU for separately ordering a separate PVS license with XenServer 6.2.
• XenDesktop will continue to include a PVS license entitlement.

Controlling Shared Storage Costs – IntelliCache
• Caching of XenDesktop images
• Leverages local storage
• Reduce IOPS on shared storage
© 2012 Citrix | Confidential – Do Not Distribute
IntelliCache Fundamentals1. Master Image created through
XenDesktop MCS
2. VM is configured to use Master Image
3. VM using Master Image is started
4. XenServer creates read cache object on local storage
5. Reads in VM being done from local cache
6. Additional Reads done from SAN when required
7. Writes will happen in VHD child per VM
8. Local “write” cache is deleted when VM is shutdown/restarted
9. Additional VMs will use same read cache
