Say Hello to WordPress 3.0

WordPress 3.0 gives site administrators the ability to manage multpile sites (or blogs) from one WordPress Installation

Word on the street is that 3.0 should be released today!(ish)

Download the beta from http://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk

Multi Site vs WPMU

Before WordPress version 3.0 there was a seperate WordPress project called WordPress multi user or WordPress

This feature gives you the ability to have many blogs (or sites) from a single installation

With a Domain Mapping plug-in you can assign a Fully Qualified Top Level Domain to a sub site

Why use WPMU or Multi Site?

Maintain hundreds of blogs or sites from one installation saves time on upgrades

Plug-ins and themes are stored in central location reducing upgrade and maintenance time and cost

No need for seperate hosting accounts for individual sites

Saves set up and configuration time

Create niche blogging (or other) platforms
