Over the years, technology has changed almost everything even crime

scenes now robberies are no more what we have been witnessing since

ages. Now we are becoming familiar with identity theft, hacking, cyber

fraud, phishing or simply cyber crime (between they are increasing with

jet speed). Cyber crimes are usually defined as and illegal electronic

operation that target a specific computer or network to hijack the

information or data stored in it.

According to a UK company survey, people are more scared of

their bank accounts being hacked or their credit card details stolen

when they are shopping on the internet, than the actual robbers. In

addition to that instant hike in cyber crime needs someone who can

stop that just like we need police and other governmental agencies to

stop chaos, robberies – to prevent and stop cyber crime there are

people who are better known as cyber forensic experts. These are the

professional who can sniff out the crimes and eradicate them.

Importance of cyber forensics:

Due to technology advancement, a corporate sector is widely

depending in technology and they are using it for keeping their

important data and information – in fact now very small portion of the

information is committed on paper. This changing scenario is

encouraging cyber criminals to get access to a very important

information. Here is how cyber forensic can encounter these criminals

and stop them from their malicious activities. Moreover, it must be

understood that cyber forensic and information security co-exists.

Internal threats:

According to surprising statistics around 71% of illegal information

threats, usually come from “inside the organization” showing that in

most cases employees of the company mishandle the computers to

steal the information and data.

Internal threats are usually caused with conscious efforts, for

instance in some cases employees share valuable information with

someone else and give them secret access to the valuable information.

However, there are many situations in which employees share such

valuable information (passwords etc) with hackers unconsciously as

they do not know the importance of such information. But thankfully

these cyber criminals are easy to get away easily as many companies

still don’t have the expertise to find them. In this case a forensic expert

can help a company not only in identifying the person, but also bringing

back the lost data. A forensic expert has the right skill and technique to

trace the criminal act.

Computer Forensic Investigators

To keep business continuity it is really important for companies to have

computer forensic investigators as they can handle cyber crimes in a

better way and conduct precise investigation. They can gather digital

evidences in a form of emails, documents, digital files or internet

banking transactions from operating systems and databases and

safeguard them carefully.

Computer forensic is the only way to keep hidden or deleted files

and in some cases it can recover them from the least expected place.

They keep these files protected and use them to protect the system

and also to find the cyber criminal.
