Why Audiences Find Responsive Websites
Engaging?
There is a growing trend of people using their smart phones for meeting their
everyday needs. From chatting with a friend, to purchasing the needed groceries,
everything is being done through the smart phone. A variety of smart gadgets
introduced in the market has made it possible for more and more people to utilize
this new technology. A number of surveys and researches reveal that the number of
mobile phone owners far exceeds the number of laptop and desktop users. There has
also been a rise in the number of mobile shoppers during the last decade.
Due to the rapid growth in the number of people using mobile and owing to the
introduction of number of devices in the market, the importance of Responsive Web
Design has reached sky heights. There is an increasing need and demand for creating
websites based on responsive design. Starting an eCommerce website doesn't
amount to making a launch online. It is also important to make your website
user-friendly; irrespective of the device through it is accessed, for resounding online
success.
Viewing the habits of the online user, it can be clearly said that mobile is being
increasingly used for everything from seeking information, communicating with the
business, to buying the final product. This makes it important for businesses to invent
ways to engage with the customer on every platform possible. Using a responsive
website, a business can engage with its customers who are using varying devices.
Change in the scenario:
The web scenario now is certainly different than what it was a few years ago.
Increasing internet usage through mobile devices has ushered in the need for
changing the way designing is performed. A business needed a different website for
mobile and a different website for desktop or PC to cater the needs of respective
customers. However, managing two websites is time consuming and cumbersome. In
order to negate the need for having one website respectively for each device,
responsive web design was introduced. Responsive web design was not only helpful
for businesses but it also helped users, across different devices, get the best viewing
experience.
What is Responsive Web Design?
RWD or Responsive Web Design is a strategy employed to build websites which will
adapt themselves as per the screen on which they are viewed. No matter which
device is used to access a website, the user will get a uniform experience across
multiple devices. A responsive website responds well to changing screen sizes and
resolutions. According to a study, there are more than 232 screen sizes.
RWD Terminology
Fluid Grid: With Fluid, you can adapt its shape to suit the compartment. The
configuration will go on getting adjusted to its surrounding irrespective of the screen
size on which it is being viewed. Liquid lattice ensures that content is organized and
stacked in a better way.
Layout Agnostic: A layout agnostic design works even without being aware of the
gadget type or the screen size on which it will be viewed.
Media Queries: With this identifying the target gadget and the physical features of
the gadget becomes possible. It will have the capability to adapt to the apt screen
size and resolution.
Benefits of RWD:
1.Responsive websites provide ease of access over a variety of devices.
2.Responsive websites enhance engagement levels and bring down the high bounce
rates.
3.Websites with responsive design are good for SEO purpose. Google recommended
responsive methodology to tackle issues, such as duplicate content, related to
duplicate websites.
4.A single website is easy to manage than having to manage two website versions. It
is also less time consuming.
5.As there are less efforts involved in managing responsive websites, it enhances the
overall productivity of the web designers.
