Is the file you’re looking for stored on the cloud or the on-premise server farm? This question is becoming less relevant as SharePoint continues the move toward hybrid environments. New features like hybrid search increase discoverability across all platforms, and reduce the headache of being unable to find a file.
1. Rise of the Hybrid Environment
Link Durability 2.While we’re on the topic of discoverability, how annoying is it to think that you’ve found the data you’re searching for, only
to come across a bad link? SharePoint 2016 hopes to alleviate this problem through link durability. Now links to files will
continue to work even if the filename is changed or the location is moved.
3. Rise of the Hybrid EnvironmentYour intranet is about to get a whole lot bigger. Well, if you want it to. Increased limits on database capacity, lists, libraries and file sizes mean your network will be able to hold as much as you want. We suggest filling it up with cat videos (just kidding).
Zero Downtime Patching 4.
With the explosion of internet-connected devices available to us, we are increasingly using a range of different gadgets to work. SharePoint 2016 gives designers the ability to create device-specific content targeting. Designers have also worked to give it a consistent look and intuitive user interface no matter which device you’re using.
Simpler Sharing 6.SharePoint is taking a page from the social media playbook to
make sharing files, content or webpages even easier. That’s right, they’ve introduced a “share” button. Just click the button,
type the name of whomever you want to share it with and viola! That’s it. Again, we suggest using this new feature
mostly for cat videos (kidding?).
SharePoint 2016 greatly simplifies the size and way patches are delivered. Primarily, there will be no offline period
required for server updates. The end result? Online installation of patches can be delivered in the middle of the
day and won’t at all affect users accessing the network.
5. Improved Cross-Platform Usage
