“Scientia” which means “knowledge”
-orderly arrangement of knowledge
and facts based on careful
observation and continuous
experimentation
-systematized body of knowledge

• Social Science- focus primarily on
study of people, culture, and their
societies. (Psychology, Sociology,
History, Economics)
• Natural Science- seeks to
understand the natural world and
its different processes.
Natural Science*Pure Science- used in pursuit of
knowledge; deals with new discoveries
that may or may not have practical
applications.a. Physical Science- Physics, Chemistry,
Earth Science
b. Biological Science- Zoology, Botany,
Anatomy and Physiology,
*Applied Science- use the
discoveries of pure sciences to
create practical solution to existing
problems and make products that
can be used in actual setting.

-application of scientific knowledge
for practical purposes.
-classified into: products, processes
and tools/gadgets which help people
in their daily lives.
