As more wearable devices (Google Glass, Jawbone Up, Fitbit, the Pebble Watch, etc) hit the market, it's important to understand what they do and how they are being used. At this talk we will answer those questions, how it's being used in higher-ed, and have a live demo of Google Glass and more.

The biggest reason at this point is convenience. Instead of checking my phone I can check my wrist or the screen in front of my face. “An Internet of Things” smart windows, cars, smart toaster, the Nest thermostat. All things that are connected. !With this trend, it seems to make sense that clothing and accessories would be integrated. Let’s look at a couple of examples (pebble/gear, fitbit/UP, Glass)

What USEFUL functions are there? Looking at Fitbit/UP/future wearables like Under Armor. These can be used, obviously, in personal health. I suspect eventually the technology will become so robust that during hospital visits, Nurses will be able to use these devices instead of having to take our vitals !Smart Watches- Health/Fitness. How many of you use Siri? -Mention Disney Magic Bands !Google Glass- Nurse Story, Augmented Reality, accessibility
