GWP-C’s Mission

GWP-C is dedicated to supporting Caribbean countries in the sustainable management of their water resources through the establishment of strategic alliances and the implementation of the appropriate actions. GWP-C is fully committed to promoting and applying the concept of an Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach at the community, national and regional level.

GWP-C was established in 2004 and has over sixty(60) partners in 20 countries

GWP-C Key Objectives

1. To promote IWRM as the approach to water resources management in the Caribbean region and to obtain national commitment towards IWRM implementation

2. To establish proactive alliances in water resource management that are representative, gender sensitive and participatory at the community, national, regional and international levels

3. To improve water governance in the Caribbean through the promotion, enhancement and effective implementation of legislation, policies and programmes on IWRM

4. To align the Caribbean region with global water initiatives in order to capitalize on international experiences and opportunities for regional capacity building in IWRM

• Drought Management Planning (within the context of IWRM Planning)

• Precipitation monitoring and data gathering for forecasting

• Alternative sources of water(RWH, desalination, wastewater)

• Inclusion of water resource considerations in urban/development planning

• Human Resource Capacity

• Financial Resources
