VOICE COMMANDS FOR WINDOWS SPEECH RECOGNITION

There are hundreds of voice commands for Windows Speech Recognition (WSR). Here are the ones I use the most.

GETTING AROUND YOUR COMPUTER What do you want to do? Say... Start WSR Start listening Stop WSR Stop listening Open an application Start (say the name of the application) Close an application Close Switch to another application Switch to (say the name of the application) Scroll up Scroll up Scroll down Scroll down Use commands in Microsoft software* Go to (Say what you see in the toolbar or ribbon)

DICTATING AND EDITING YOUR WRITING What do you want to do? Say... Insert punctuation while dictating Comma, period, em dash, etc. Go back to insert a comma after a word Go after (say the word); Comma Go back to insert words Go before (say the word) Start a new paragraph New line

New paragraph Delete a word Delete (say the word) Delete a word, phrase, or sentence you just dictated Delete that Correct a word Correct (say the word—follow the menu options for

correcting it) Go to the end of a line End Jump to the top of the document Page Up
