• A volcano is a mountain with a large hole at the top.

• This hole is called a crater.

• In a eruption, a volcano produces very hot, melted rock.

- Magma: under the surface - Lava: on the surface

• A lava lake is a amount of lava forms in the crater.

• A volcano forms at an opening or vent, in the crust at the boundaries between plates.

• A volcanic eruption occurs when one plate pull under the other. Water vapour, particles, gases ang magma pur out onto surface.

• Volcanoes form new land. Gases and particles from a volcano can affect the weather.

• The mantle is the layer of Earth under the crust. Some areas are very hot and volcanoes can form at these hot spots.
