The USAID CDP program is active in Khost, Paktika, Paktya, Ghazni, Kandahar, Helmand, and Zabul provinces

Extensive repairs to the irrigation network in Sar Hawza district began this week. The project scope, which provides temporary employment to 615 Sar Hawza residents for 90 days, covers repairs to 24 reservoirs, nine pipe culverts, and 4.6km of canals.

Storm drainage rehabilitation along the main road that runs between Kalakhel and Solaymankhelvillages began during the last week of June. Repairs to this drainage system will prevent flood-borne road washouts that presently impact and estimated 35,000 people living in Shah Joy district

Short term community-based laborers repaired 522 m3

of erosion protection walls and 200m of irrigation canals in Tani district, Khost province this week

Residents of Mir Hassan village in Dand Wa pattan district spent the week working on repairs to erosion protection walls (shown) and a karez system.

Paktya

Road side drainage repairs near a market in LashkarGah district. This project, which began on May 19th, is now 22% complete. Repairswill help to maintain infrastructure built under a 2002 master plan for the province, developed by local government authorities.

Helmand

Residents of Gurbuz district repaired 525 m3

of erosion protection walls and 400m of canals this week,
