Types of illness

• There are two types: -Infectious illness

-Non-Infectious illnesses• Infectious illness are caused by harmful

bacteria or virus. They can be: -Contagious

- Non contagious

• Bacteria are unicellular micro-organisms.• There are two types: -Beneficial bacteria

-Harmful bacteria or pathogenic bacteria.

• A virus is not a micro-organism. It can causes infectious illnesses.

• It´s not a living thing but it needs cells to carry out its life processes.

• Pathogenic micro-organisims can enter our bodies in different ways:

- Through the respiratory system -Through the digestive system -Through wounds and cuts

HOW CAN WE PREVENT INFECTIOUS ?

• Disinfect wounds• Wash your hands before eating.• Wash uncooked food.• Cover your mouth when you cough or

sneeze.• Do not share eating utensils.

• Vaccines introduce into our bodies the micro-organisms or virus that is making us ill.

• The body reacts to the virus and produce subtances to destroy it.

How do we treat infectious?

• Infectious caused by bacteria are treated with antibiotics

• Infectious caused by fungi are treated with anti-fugal medicines.

• Infectious caused by viruses are only treated with medicines that help to reduce symptoms.
