UK/EU Highlights: We have managed to secure a national partnership with IBM. IBM are sponsoring the Bristol

Chapter and are hoping to find University relations managers at all the Robogals UK locations. More

information to follow but currently:

Any chapters please feel free to use IBM logo on any posters. See attached for logo.

With the IBM Logo, please do not:

- Distort the proportion or shape - Separate the letters of the logo - Combine with another company's logo - please put the IBM logo on a line with no other

logos on the same line - Draw on or add characters - Pair with graphic elements of other IBM offering brands - Create your own version of the logo artwork - Print the logo in any colour except IBM blue, black or white - Alter with an outline, boldface, highlight, or shape around it - Add text to it, or use it within a headline, name, or sentence

Chapters

2012 so far:

UK & Europe have taught 135 girls in 7 schools.

1. Leeds chapter have taught 80 girls in 4 schools.

2. London chapter have taught 55 girls in 3 schools

3. Bristol have taught 50/150 girls.

There is no information for the other chapters and these numbers may be slightly incorrect so a

quick reminder to continuously update myrobogals.

London:

Aim for 2012/13: Reach over 700 girls from 10+ schools through 20 robotic workshops.

Manchester:

President: Ee Jane Low [email protected]

Manchester managed to secure funding from the University’s Learning Enrichment Fund. They are

going to participate in the Manchester Science Festival – Science Extravaganza in October.

Eejane also help secure the IBM partnership.

Aim for 2012/13: Reach 200 girls from 5 schools through 10 robotic workshops.

Bristol:

Aim for 2012/13: Reach 150 girls from various schools through robotic workshops.

See attached for detailed annual review.

Leeds:

President Sarah Griffith [email protected]

The Leeds chapter have managed to hold 3 lessons, develop their lesson plans and have met with

STEMnet to arrange more lessons. They received funding for the University’s Engineering

Department and Access and Engagement Department and have purchased 4 robots and 4 laptops.

They also managed to get through to the second round of the Starbucks Youth Action funding so

good luck to them with their presentation on the 25th of May.

Edinburgh:

The Edinburgh chapter have obtained funding and have managed to obtain access to robots,

software and recruit members. They are focusing on preparing for next term’s activities.

Delft:

Sheffield, Dublin & Oxford

More information needed.

Potential new chapters in 2013: Birmingham and Exeter. If you have any other ideas or contacts for

universities wanting to set up a robogals chapter please email [email protected]

To do In order to keep track of progress of the society and really see tangible results by updating

myrobogals with records of activities.

Suggested to do:

1. Facebook: Join the UK/EU facebook page, local chapter pages and Robogals Global Network

groups.

2. See attached ‘Annual review for Bristol’; it would be great if each chapter could produce one

of these. Perhaps add a section for contact with Alumini for anyone looking for advice from

previous executive members.

3. Can chapters who have not set a formal aim for 2012/13 please do so and email to me as really useful way of keeping track of progress.

4. Just really keep other chapters in the loop of what is going on.
