● Created a local Internet○ Faster: Local traffic does not have to travel as far○ Cheaper: Less traffic routed via upstream links○ More efficient: Local traffic has far lower latency

● Enables new markets and services○ Data-centers, web-hosting, streaming multimedia,

multiplayer gaming, video conferencing, and more○ Multi-site private networks

● Kenya: 500 Mbps● Rwanda: 250 Mbps● Uganda: 150 Mbps● Tanzania: 60 Mbps

● Rwanda has higher traffic levels primarily because the Google Global Cache is more effectively shared across their IXP.
