Twitter terms of service(ToS) explained

In order to understand the Twitter ToS,we need to consider not just the wording

but we need to look at the implications to the user

of the fact that Twitter is a public communications service

TWITTER suggests: You should consider the fact that your tweets

may be viewed around the world instantly

CONSIDER that your tweets might be taken out of context by diverse audiences

ACTION can be takenby parties that perceive themselves to have been injured by your Tweets

CONSIDER the legal implications of your tweets

A case against a tweeter named ‘Mr Monkey’ was brought to court in California by the Tyneside council in Englanddue to alleged slanders on Twitter

Ownership of Content

YOU own what you post

Copyright and reuse of your Content

BY using their services, you license Twitter to publish your tweets

BUT Twitter and its partners can do whatever theylike with your tweets, wherever they like, and they owe you nothing for it

YOU give Twitter a • world-wide, • royalty free licence • with the right to sub-license your content
