LDS Music

• LDS Music is an official mobile app published by the church.

• The app allows you to see sheet music, organize playlists, and listen to hymns.

• Volunteers can contribute to the app as a developer, beta tester, localizer, and/or transcriber.

• Currently the app is available on iOS and in the future it will be available on Android and Windows Phone.

Localizing the app

• The buttons, menus, titles, and descriptions in the UI of the app – all words and short phrases – need to be translated into different languages. Localized scripture book names also need to be entered in.

• Priority languages: First, the "Internet 10": English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Then, any other language supported by iOS.

• Some work has already been done, but there is still more to do.

How will this help me towards my career?

• This is a non-paid volunteer opportunity with a low time commitment.

• You will be able to keep your language skills fine-tuned.

• Basic experience that you can put on your resume – working with localization and seeing some of the unique challenges for this type of translation.

• Your work will be seen and used by millions of people around the world.

• Blessings. :)

We are also looking for volunteers who speak different languages to help transcribe already-translated music content so that it can be made available on LDS.org, in LDS Music, and in Gospel Library.

Language progress is tracked on our Languages spreadsheet. UI translation is also done here.
