INTRODUCTION

The aim of production engineer is to increase the output

particularly in mass production . This technique of transfer

device has been introduce to achieve same motive .

The transfer devices are often the most suitable method for

continuous flow of identical or view similar component in the

mass production of consumer goods.

NEED OF TRANSFER DEVICES

High product demand

Better assembly process for mass production

Less time required for production

TRANSFER SYSTEM

These are special purpose system where the component are

transferred automatically from one machining head to another

machining head.

For example CNC rotary transfer machine.

Types of transfer system

Continuous transfer system

Synchronous transfer system

Asynchronous transfer system

Stationary transfer system

TRANSFER MECHANISM

Transfer mechanism are used to move the work

piece from one station to another station in the

machine or from one machine to another –to enable

various operations to be performed on the part.

For examples

rails

Rotary indexing tables

Overhead conveyors

TYPES OF TRANSFER DEVICES

Inline transfer devices

The in-line configuration assembly system consists of

a sequence of workstations in a more-or-less straight-

line arrangement .

The in-line assembly machine consists of a series of

automatic workstations located along an in-line

transfer system. It is the automated version of the

manual assembly line.

Continuous, synchronous, or asynchronous transfer

systems can be used with the in-line configuration.

ROTARY INDEXING TABLE TRANSFER DEVICE

the base part are indexed around a circular table or

dial.

The workstations are stationary and usually located

around the outside periphery of the dial.

The parts ride on the rotating table and arc

registered or positioned, in turn, at each station a

new component is added to base part.

FEEDERS

A feeder is the means by which the rate of solid

flow from a hopper or bin is controlled .

Feeder feed material to conveyors, processors and

other equipment at a controlled rate to maximize

the efficiency and production.

Feeders differ from conveyors in that the latter are

only capable of transporting material not modulating

the rate of flow.

Dischargers are also not feeder
