DESCRIPTION
Touchscreen technology and devices that use that technology have become widely popular over the past few years. Even so, very small amount of people knows that there are different technologies implemented in those devices that they use in everyday life. Through this seminar, we would try to present the different solutions currently a vailable on the market. Simultaneously, we will compare between those solutions, emphasizing on differences between those technologies, and making the differences between them more obvious and understandable. Later, we will give our opinions on market trends in the future, and our vision and conclusion about this topic . full topic: http://www.slideshare.net/mshirif/touch-screen-technologies

2. Types of the touch screens:
4 main types.
No type is always the Best.
3.Resistive Technology:
Pressure sensitive.
voltage travel across 2 sheets.
X-sheet and Y-sheet.
isolating dots.
touch is a switch closing the circuit
3. Resistive >> Pros & Cons:
Low Cost
Finger or any stylus.
Low Durability.
Low Clarity (75%).
4. Capacitive Technology:
Rely on electricity of your body.
X-Electrodes & Y-Electrodes
grid of Capacitors is formed.
Your body is a capacitor.
Touch is a change in capacitance.
4. Capacitive >> Pros & Cons:
Multi-Touch
Good clarity (90%)
Low scratch immunity.
Only Finger.
COMMERCIAL MARKET: The iPhone
5. SAW Technology:
uses ultrasonic waves.
4 transducers (converter).
Electrical / Ultrasonic.
comparing with a
Stored reference signal
Touch is a wave
attenuation
5. SAW >> Pros & Cons:
High clarity (99%)
High scratch immunity
Low weather immunity
can be activated inadvertently by dirt
6. Infrared Technology:
based on light-beam interruption.
a frame surrounds the display
X-LEDs and Y-LEDs.
Photo sensor for X and Y
6. Infrared >> Pros & Cons:
Excellent clarity
Very durable.
suitable for large-sizes
Very expensive.
Low performance in sunlight.
7. Market Trends: 2013
Resistive is shrinking
1.75 billion units in 2013.
Up 17.2% on year.
40% of mobile phones use hhhhhh touchscreens
The leading technology is kkk projected capacitive
7. Market Trends >>
Fast growth
8. What is next?
