The Good And Bad Stuff About Google Glass

(My Opinion)

According to Wikipedia

Google Glass is a "wearable" computer

with a head-mounted display

With Google Glass you can

● Look up the web (surf the internet)● Take photos● Record videos● Get access to maps● Hang outetc.

There's mixed opinion

about

Google glass

throughout the internet.

Before talking about my opinion

let's take a brief look at the

specifications and capability of the device!

Glass comes with

Android 4.0 (Icrecream sandwich)

16GB device memory

(of which 12GB will be "usable")

OMAP dual core 4430 CPU

1GB RAM

5 MP camera

Google glass comes in 5 colors

Black (Charcoal)Orange (Tangerine)

Neutral (Shale)White (Cotton)

Light Blue (Sky)

On to the Good, Bad and Ugly

● Frame and nosepad are flexible

● But its reported (by Engadget) that using the glass causes headaches

● The battery lasts for one full day of typical use (according to Google)

But recording videos is noted as a

"battery intensive"

task by Google

This is quite disappointing!

It seems we have to carry a charger and find a charging outlet

in the middle of a work day if we

● take pictures● record videos● participate in Hangoutsetc.

Plus, recording full length videos

seem to heat up the temple!

Before starting to use the device, you just need to

pair the device with your

Google account.And that's it!

Hangouts are cool coz you can livestream

and the other person can see what you are seeing

1. Glass sometimes picks up words from conversation with other person (even without saying "OK Glass")

2. Sometimes "OK Glass" has to be uttered more than once

3. A clean accent is necessary to have the device work sanely

Here are some misbehaviors

Anyone can take a picture

(or record a video) of anyone else

at the blink of the eye

My opinion on Privacy

What if the other person

doesn't want to be

photographed (and has privacy issues)?

What if a person

photographs someone and uses it to

bully them or blackmail them?

What will happen to the face of Social?

I personally am not sure if Google has totally forgot

about privacy issues

And will it not feel as if we have two fields of vision?

The glass serves as a

Smartphone right on our eyes

That's REALLY cool!

But will Google address the

ugly and privacy issues before launching it?
