CPU + Heat sink

• A CPU (central processing unit) is the brains of the computer. Each motherboard supports only a certain range of CPU’s depending on there compatibility. The CPU speed is measured in Ghz. The higher this value the faster it’s able to process data.

• A heat sink is to draw away the heat away from the processor to prevent it from overheating and slowing down.

Adapter Cards

Adapter cards are found in most computer systems and are used to provide a picture on your display with help from the processor which both inline, display the actual image. Most common types of adapter card are:

• PCI• AGP• PCIx• PCIeDifferent types of connection the motherboard will

determine the type of card used, and on some smaller computer, they have integrated adapter cards due to the lack of space.
